PROGRAM OF STORYTELLING AND MOVEMENT

Recommended for grades pre-K through 3
Available throughout the school year
Fee: $80

Ellen Sinopoli, Artistic Director of the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, or one of her company members can conduct a story hour at your school or library, reading from the company’s library of children’s books about dance as well as conducting basic movement activities that are related to the stories.

The books read may include:

• DANCE by Bill T. Jones
• TWO LEFT FEET by Adam Stower
• GIRAFFES CAN’T DANCE by Giles Andreae
• WATER DANCE by Thomas Locker
• THE HUMAN ALPHABET by Pilobolus

Each story hour is unique in order to be age appropriate as well as accommodate variations between individual classes. For each story hour the children are given a sneak peek into our extensive library of movement oriented children’s books. We then read and explore some of the books more in depth from a movement perspective. Some activities are quieter, some are more active, but our intention is to unite literacy and dance so that children will view reading from a perspective that extends beyond the page.
