SUMMARY:Gloversville School District Residency 2025-2026
DESCRIPTION:For more that 15 years\, ESDC has provided programming designed to offer GSD 2nd and 5th graders the opportunity to experience the bravery of creativity and invention as they step into the realm of how one might learn differently and see themselves in the most positive way possible. Our current program brings “Dance by Chance” to the three schools: Park Terrace\, Kingsborough\, and Boulevard Elementary Schools. SUMMARY:Guest Artists at Russell Sage College Student/Faculty Dance Concert 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company is pleased to join the student dancers and choreographers of the Russell Sage dance division in this concert featuring solo and ensemble works by students\, faculty\, and ESDC! \nThis year’s concert is produced by ESDC dancer and Sage professor Sara Senecal. The Russell Sage dancers will perform ensemble pieces created in class\, as well as self-choreographed solo projects. ESDC will perform three selections from its current repertory. \nESDC’s repertory for these performances include the full company in an excerpt from “As Seen From Above” (2018)\, a piece that captures the dynamic and energy of our avian friends; “Falling” (2008)\, a quintet inspired by the contrasting images of an antebellum staircase\, a cacophony of wild blue horses and the swirl of flame;  the duet “Pierre’s Words” (1995) for which the depth and fantastical quality Pierre Joris’ voice is almost songlike and is the perfect partner to the movement of the dancers.  \nThere are two shows: Saturday\, November 16 at 7pm and Sunday\, November 17 at 2pm. \nTickets are available through the RSC box office by calling (518) 244-2248.

SUMMARY:Celebrated Emblems with Musicians of Ma'alwyck at Capital Repertory Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Experience stirring movement and music as the two companies unite for the very first time to perform Celebrated Emblems\, a captivating exploration of identity\, history\, and place. This distinctive program will be performed on January 24\, 2025\, at the Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany and January 25\, 2025\, at SUNY-Schenectady. \n  \nCelebrated Emblems features works by distinguished contemporary composers James Lee III\, Missy Mazzoli\, William Jay Sydeman\, and George Walker\, each delving into the stories and landscapes that shape America with powerful compositions. \n  \nThe dance company will perform two new works inspired by James Lee III’s “Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet” and Missy Mazzoli’s “Death Valley Junction”. In the first dance\, “Telling”\, the dancers reveal and share narratives both private and timeless. The dancers reveal and share these narratives through imagery that intrigues\, stimulates\, summons. For its second piece\, “Dust Devils”\, the dancers inhabit the desert with its sense of emptiness and deceptive stillness; the sounds of a constant wind that sweeps up “dust devils” and the singular humanity that chooses to cohabitate with that environment. \n  \nTo reserve tickets\, please visit Capital Repertory Theatre’s website: \nhttps://attherep.org/event/celebrated-emblems/ \nThe Company is also performing with Musicians of Ma’alwyck at SUNY-Schenectady on January 25 at 3pm. SUMMARY:The Hyde: George Rickey Across Time
DESCRIPTION:ESDC has a long-standing relationship with museums\, including The Hyde\, where they previously performed during the 2022 exhibition Transformations: The Art of John Van Alstine. \nThis year\, ESDC returns to The Hyde with a brand-new performance inspired by the exhibition George Rickey Across Time. George Rickey (1907–2002) was a trailblazer in kinetic sculpture\, crafting stainless steel works that gracefully respond to the air around them. His captivating pieces—ranging from elegant tabletop sculptures to larger wall\, floor\, and ceiling-mounted works—will be on display from June 7 – September 28 throughout the galleries\, with three large-scale outdoor sculptures on view through spring 2026. \nThe dancers will interpret Rickey’s dynamic forms through movement\, creating a poetic dialogue between dance and sculpture. This site-specific performance is designed for audiences of all ages\, offering a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of visual and performing arts in an engaging and memorable way.
