Just a few weeks ago, we joyfully gathered for the Just a few weeks ago, we joyfully gathered for the annual Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company Gala. The evening was a celebration of the arts and its important place in education as well as an opportunity to honor Michael A. Nofal, a steadfast advocate for the arts and generous supporter of ESDC. The dance company brought the evening to life with an improvisational performance, accompanied by the beautiful music of Maria Zemantauski on guitar. This collaboration transformed the space into a living, breathing work of art, joined by two former company members, André Robles & Hannah Albin. We were also inspired by remarks from Cliff Bird, principal of Abram Lansing Elementary School, who shared heartfelt insights on the vital role of the arts in education, highlighting the impact we strive to make across the Capital Region and throughout New York State. The dance company had a wonderful night, and we hope you did too! Mark your calendars for November 16th & 17th – w Mark your calendars for November 16th & 17th – we’ll be performing! The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company will be guest artists at Russell Sage College’s 2024 Student/Faculty Dance Concert. Produced by ESDC dancer and Sage professor @sarasenecal , the concert will feature both ensemble and solo pieces by Russell Sage dancers, along with three selections from our company’s repertoire. This year, our repertoire includes an excerpt of “As Seen From Above”, a piece that captures the dynamic and energy of our avian friends; “Falling”, a quintet inspired by the contrasting images of an antebellum staircase, a cacophony of wild blue horses and the swirl of flame and captivating duet “Pierre’s Words” for which the depth and fantastical quality Pierre Joris’ voice is almost songlike and is the perfect partner to the movement of the dancers. 📅 Saturday, November 16 at 7pm & Sunday, November 17 at 2pm 📍Sage College’s James L. A week from now, the dance company will be in Well A week from now, the dance company will be in Wells, NY working on #SlippingIntoOneFilm, a site-specific, multi-faceted film that brings the creative processes of artists to the forefront.
