Celebrated Emblems marks the first-ever collaboration between Musicians of Ma’alwyck and ESDC. The dance company will perform two new works inspired by the music of James Lee III and Missy Mazzoli. In the first dance, “Telling”, the dancers initiated and then developed movement influenced through the partial revealing of imagery that intrigued, stimulated or summoned. For its second piece, as yet untitled, the dancers inhabit the desert with its sense of emptiness and deceptive stillness; the sounds of a constant wind that sweeps up “dust devils”; the singular humanity that chooses to cohabitate with that environment.
