Center for Disability Services

ESDC has partnered with the Center for Disability Services (CDS) to bring creative movement workshops and performance opportunities to adults and children with physical disabilities since 2014. Inspired by the CDS’s M.O.V.E. (Movement Opportunities Via Experience) program and using the specially designed adaptive equipment created by the Rifton company, these workshop sessions blow open traditional definitions of dance and limitations. Two teaching artists and a musical accompanist lead workshops with several groups of individuals and their staff aides, which culminates in a performance, often in collaboration with the Albany Academy for Girls. Each session revolves around a different theme, which have been anything from musical theater to continents to outer space!
